Greek tourism increases by 14.2% compared to 2014

The number of tourists who visited Greee in the first seven months of January – July has reached 12 million.

According to figuers from the Bank of Greece, incoming passenger traffic for the period January-July 2015 increased by 14.2% and amounted to 11,974 thousand travelers, compared to 10.487 thousand travellers in the corresponding period of 2014.

This development resulted in revenue from tourism to grow this year by 6.2% to EUR 6.7 billion euros.

This is primarily due to a 10.2% increase in revenue from residents of the EU-28 countries, which amounted to EUR 4,2 billion, and secondly to an increase by 1.2% of the revenue from residents of other countries outside the EU 28, which amounted to EUR 2.610 billion.

Specifically, revenues from residents of euro zone countries amounted to EUR 2.504 billion, increased by 1.2%, while the revenues from residents of EU-28 countries outside the euro zone increased by 27.0% and amounted to EUR 1.696 billion.
