In April 2021, about 2,200 people were employed for the first time

Compared to March 2021, in April 2021 the number of persons in employment increased to just over 893,300. In April 2021, about 17,200 persons in employment were new employees.

According to data published by the Slovenian Statistic Agency, in April 2021, compared to March 2021, the number of persons in employment increased by about 2,300 or by 0.3% (to just over 893,300), and compared to April 2020 by 0.9%. Compared to March 2021, in April 2021 the number of persons in paid employment and self-employed persons increased (the former by 0.3% to about 798,300, the latter by 0.2% to about 95,100). Compared to April 2020, the number of both also increased (the former by 0.8% and the latter by 1.2%).

In April 2021, about 17,200 persons in employment were new employees (or about 2,600 fewer than in March 2021), of whom about 2,200 (61.1% men and 38.9% women) were employed for the first time, which means that this was their first formal employment in the labour market in Slovenia.

In April 2021, compared to March 2021, the number of persons in employment increased for both genders; i.e. the number of women in employment slightly more (by 0.3% to just over 402,500) than the number of men in employment (by 0.2% to about 490,800), in both cases mostly in manufacturing, followed by accommodation and food service activities. At the annual level, the number in both categories increased even more markedly (of women in employment by 1.1% and of men in employment by 0.7%).

Compared to March 2021, in April 2021 the number of persons in employment decreased in six and increased in fourteen activities. It decreased the most in administrative and support service activities (by 0.2% to about 33,700), and increased the most in manufacturing (by 0.5% to about 204,800) and in accommodation and food service activities (by 2.2% to about 32,600).

In April 2021, the number of persons in employment in manufacturing increased on a monthly basis the most in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (by 0.7% to more than 33,400), of whom 81.4% were men in employment and 18.6% were women in employment. Among persons in employment in April 2021, in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment 94.4% were persons in paid employment, of whom about 24,600 had a permanent contract and about 7,000 had a fixed-term contract.
