Tirana, April 2013
Chair of the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) Ilir Meta appeared before the media Wednesday afternoon to announce that SMI has decided to bring to an end its agreement with the Democratic Party and accept the SP invitation for a pre-elections coalition.
“I appreciate the cooperation with the Democratic party and its Chair, Prime Minister Berisha. This cooperation over the last four years ensured stability as well as key reforms that were essential to the country’s development and integration”, – Meta said.
The Presidency of the Socialist Movement for Integration concluded that it has fulfilled with maximum responsibility and political correctness the agreement signed four years ago with the Democratic Party and now considers this agreement complete,” Meta added.
According to Meta, “Accepting this invitation means commitment to the accomplishment of an essential dimension of political and principled cooperation between the SMI and SP for a victory of the leftwing on June 23, as the only political route to bring political equilibrium.”
The SMI Chair further argued that “a new equilibrium is needed for a division of powers, which is necessary for further stability…and grow a wide basis of consensus for the country’s fast European integration which has stagnated for a long time now.” /ibna/
