The renowned Albanian violinist, Ibrahim Madhi, who has been honored with the title “Artist of the People”, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 68.
The late professor used to work at the University of Arts in Tirana and was known to be a virtuoso violinist, one of the most renowned Albanian artists in the country and in the international music arena.
For around 45 years, Ibrahim Madhi was a soloist and first violinist in the Symphonic Orchestra of the Albanian Radio Television, in the Orchestra of the State Ensemble and in the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Theater of Opera and Ballet.
Prof. Madhi held a key position in the violin classes at the Faculty of Music at the Academy of Arts. He has also led the department of musical interpretation at the Academy of Arts.
For several years, Madhi has worked as the director of the Academy of Arts.
He’s known for an intensive activity filled with concertos, for 45 years in a row as a soloist violinist, concert-maestro, ensemblist and orchestra conductor.
The late professor is also a founder of the instrumental Trio of the Academy of Arts (1974) and Orchestra of Arches (1977).
Lorenc Radovani, professor at the University of Arts says that Prof. Madhi has given a precious contribution in enriching national violin compositions.
His artistic repertoire includes tens of musical pieces from renowned Albanian and world composers.
Prime Minister Rama expressed his sorrow for this loss: “Ibrahim Madhi, a violinist and a virtuoso, who left without making noise and by leaving behind the taste of quiet music and quiet talks”. /ibna/
