President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci is participating in the Southeast Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP) taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria, which holds this year’s chairmanship of this important process for our region.

During this summit, President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci said that this summit is very important to discuss future steps that the region must take in the context of regional integration and integration in the EU and NATO.

“We are meeting in an important moment for the region, a moment when we must take other constructive steps toward our integration. Communication between the sides is no longer a question. Meetings, talks, dialogue in the region is now a normal thing. Time has come to build trust between us and between our nations”, Thaci said.

According to Thaci, reconciliation is the first step toward restoring trust between the nations.

“It’s up to us as political leaders to show that we have overcome last century’s hostilities and that we are committed to build our future in peace, stability and friendship”, Thaci declared.

According to president Thaci, cooperation is the second step.

“We are improving road infrastructure by building highways and railways, we are collaborating in the energy sector and telecommunication. We are collaborating with each other. Besides collaborating for our development, it is important to collaborate in order to address the challenges and threats of our region”, he said.

At the end of the summit, leaders will approve a declaration which reflects SEECP’s achievements during the past two decades and special attention will be given to joint actions for the future development of Southeast Europe. /
