Authorities in FYROM have increased security measures ahead of the end of the year holidays. Measures have been put in place especially against the use of explosive materials or fireworks.
Fines against those who purchase or activate explosive materials or fireworks during the end of the year holidays will range from 200 to 500 Euros.
“The purchase or the activation of pyrotechnic materials in public places constitutes a contravention which receives fines amounting from 200 to 500 Euros. In case these pyrotechnic materials are distributed and sold in markets, then this constitutes to a criminal offense which receives up to 3 years in prison”, the Ministry of Interior says.
Fines from 600 to 800 Euros will also be issued against parents who allow the explosion of these materials.
According to statistics, every year, the use of pyrotechnic materials worldwide leads to 150 thousand people to become disabled, where 80% of them are children, while 4 out of 10 people who remain wounded are children under the age of 15. /ibna/
