Head of the European People’s Party (EPP), Joseph Daul has announced that he will personally be engaged in order to help in the process of the solution of FYROM’s name dispute. He said this after a meeting held in Brussels with the Macedonian PM, Nikola Gruevski.
“I know that Macedonia cannot move forward in the Euro integration process due to the name dispute and this is the reason why it has been blocked in the European Council. Now we’re waiting to see what will happen in Greece and whether the country will see fresh general elections. Nevertheless, I promised to the prime minister of Macedonia that in spring, I will engage with this case in order for this issue to be solved once and for all. I know that there have been a lot of talks, but these long term talks must result in a solution”, said Daul.
He added that his engagement must offer a real solution for this contest which has lasted several years between Skopje and Athens. On his side, PM Nikola Gruevski has greeted the readiness and engagement of the head of EPP in the process of finding a solution for the name dispute. /ibna/
