Foreign Austrian Minister, Sebastian Kurz declared that FYROM has been left on its own to cope with the refugee crisis and the European Union must offer its help.
The head of the Austrian diplomacy declared this during his visit to FYROM, in order to see the temporary refugee camp in Gevgelija, accompanied by the Macedonian Interior Minister, Mitko Cavkov.
“The EU must also look at the refugee crisis in Macedonia and not only in Italy. The long term solution of the problem is possible only if an agreement is reached. However, Austria will collaborate with the government in GYROM”, the Austrian minister said.
Interior Minister Cavkov said that he’s expecting concrete assistance from the EU.
“We successfully managed to cope with the situation with the deployment of around 800 members of police and the assistance of the army, but the situation is escalating as a result of the uncontrolled entry of migrants from Greece. Our objective is to treat these refugees in a human way and offer them protection while they go through Macedonia. In terms of security, we managed to protect them from criminal rings which helped them to illegally cross the border to Serbia”. Cavkov declared.
Cavkov said that the interior ministers of Austria, Hungary, Macedonia and Serbia will soon visit FYROM to find a joint solution to the crisis. /ibna/
