In August 2017, the Harmonized Price Index increased by 0,5% when compared to August 2016, while compared to July of 2017 increased by 1,0%. For the period January-August 2017 the HICP recorded an increase of 1,0% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Compared to August 2016, the categories with the largest positive change where Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (4,7%) and Transport (4,5%) whereas Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco (-3,3%) had the biggest negative change.
In comparison to HICP of July 2017, the categories with the largest increase were Transport (2,5%) and Restaurant and Hotels (2,4%).
For the period January-August 2017, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the largest change was noted in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (8,2%).
As regards to the economic origin, the largest change was observed in Energy with an increase of 6,0% when compared to the index of August 2016./IBNA
