“Happy ending” in the Greek Bulgarian borders

After serious incidents in the borders, a temporary solution was found. Specifically the tractors of farmers protesting the social security bill  blocked the way for 5 days in a row and yesterday  five Bulgarian truck drivers smashed the barricade and crossed the borders (and they were arrested). Negotiations started (between the authorities and the farmers) and finally at 8.00 p.m. local time today the road opened. Farmers agreed to permit the lorries to pass –they will close the borders again probably tomorrow.

At the time the borders and custom offices opened,  there was, on the Greek side of the borders, a line of lorries of about 13 kilometers and on the Bulgarian side, a line of almost 30 kilometers.
