Prime minister Nikola Gruevski declared today that he’s closely following the developments in the country which were accompanied by recent protests by ethnic Albanians.
But, he said that there are given organizations and individuals who in the recent days are trying to further provoke the situation. “People who do this, serve the interests of neither Macedonians nor Albanians nor other communities living in Macedonia. They do not even serve to the interests of Christians or Muslims. They continue their agenda. Whatever it is, as a state, we have the necessary capacities to handle such situations”, said Gruevski.
He underlined that peaceful protests contribute to democracy, but violent protests cannot be supported.
According to him, Ministry of Interior has professional fulfilled its duty with the protests of the recent days and according to him, their escalation will not be allowed. Asked as to whether he has talked about this with the coalition partner, Ali Ahmeti of BDI (Democratic Union for Integraion), Gruevski added that he has daily contacts with the coalition partner. /ibna/
