Gruevski launches criticism against the international community

Leader of VMRO-DPMNE, Nikola Gruevski has launched accusations against foreign diplomats in FYROM for what he considers as intervention in domestic affairs of the country.

He said that foreign ambassadors, alluding to US and EU ambassadors, are putting pressure with the aim of changing the will of the people and forming a government.

“We have information that some foreign officials have exerted their influence in order to forge the will of the people. Some of the representatives are not independent. The unlawful decisions of the State Election Commission may be corrected by the Administrative Court”, said Gruevski during the weekend before protesters of VMRO-DPMNE in Skopje, who continued to stay in front of the State Election Commission, in order not to allow that they consider a rigging of the electoral process.

Gruevski said that if the voting is repeated, his party will not participate. In case a repetition of the voting is decided, Gruevski’s party is risking a seat. In the 11 December elections, VMRO-DPMNE won 51 seats against SDSM who won 49 seats. Every repetition of voting would equalize the number of seats that each party has in parliament.

Meanwhile, SDSM said that the recent declarations issued by Gruevski show that he’s being sent to opposition and that there’s no more room in politics about such politicians.

“In spite of what’s happening, some things are clear: citizens decided on changes to take place and there is no room in politics about people like Nikola Gruevski”, SDSM said.

Meanwhile, BDI (Democratic Union for Integration) is not impressed by Gruevski’s rhetoric.

“We are not surprised from the war for power taking place between Macedonian political parties, as none of them represents the interests of the Albanian community. To us, the international community remains a permanent partner of this country”, spokesman of BDI, Bujar Osmani said.

Besa Movement has condemned what it considers to be an anti-western language of Nikola Gruevski, stressing that this language fragmentizes the state on an ethnic basis.

Alliance for Albanians called on the political players of the country to avoid populist declarations against international allies.

The Turkish Democratic Party, which is part of “For a better Macedonia” coalition, along with VMRO-DPMNE, has asked for the will of the people to be respected and for foreign elements not to intervene.

“We’re expecting for the crisis to be solved. The people have voted and we’re with the people. As a coalition, we have won 51 seats and we will continue to insist on our victory”, said Gjunul Bajraktar, representative of the Turkish Democratic Party.

Political analyst, Petar Arosvski has criticized such behavior of the largest party in the country, VMRO-DPMNE.

“For a country which aims at integrating in the European Atlantic structures, it would be wise to hear the recommendations of member countries. When VMRO-DPMNE doesn’t like the rhetoric of the international community, they choose a contradicting rhetoric, as it happened in this case, but it always ends up in their disadvantage, because the international community has great credibility”, Arosvski said.

Reactions and comments against the speech of the leader of VMRO-DPMNE have also been issued by other political parties and experts of political affairs in the country. /
