A hand grenade exploded in Mitrovica, causing again a climate of uncertainty in the most sensitive area for the relations between Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo.
According to local police reports, quoted by IBNA, the explosion occurred in the early hours of the day near Ibar bridge in Mitrovica.
Regional Kosovo Police chief Zeljko Bojic confirmed that the incident took place on the left side of the bridge, in the northern area of the city.
“The investigative police units have confirmed it was a hand grenade M-75. The police department has identified the district prosecutor who has filed the case as a felony”, said Bojic.
Bojic confirmed that there were no casualties and no material damages.
Kosovo police investigative team and the specialized EULEX unit are gathering crime scene evidence to discover the motives and circumstances of the incident and to identify the perpetrators. The hand grenade was launched a day after the removal of Peace Park over Ibar river and the beginning of work for it revitalization, according to the agreement achieved by negotiation delegation in Brussels. /balkaneu.com/
