Journalist, cameramen and photo reporters are upset because of the way the greek authorities blocked them on Wednesday at Eidomeni and prevented them from witnessing and reporting on the police’s operation for the removal of migrants. Police managed to evacuate the area (getting migrants into buses for Athens) and “free” the train station that was essentially besieged for 20 days, yet no journalist was allowed to be there and this gave rise to bitter comments.
Policemen even detained journalist and obliged them to go to a nearby police station for verification of their credentials, essentially in order to keep them away so that nobody could witness the operation. Instead, a crew of policemen had a camera and took footage of the operation, sending it later to TV channels – something that certainly does not substitute the constitutional right to information
