Greek government announces measures to relieve the citizens of Cephalonia

The Greek Minister of Infrastracture, Transportation and Networks announced, Mihalis Chrisohoidis, announced that measures will be taken for the immediate relief of the residents of Cephalonia who have been affected by the earthquake. The island will be put on a special programme in order for the appropriate procedures run fatser.

Among the measures that were announced is: the funding by the state of the rent that the people whose residences have been damaged will have to pay, for two years, the creation of a settlement with bungalows of different categories for those not wishing to rent a house, and the funding for the restoration of the residences that have sustained damages.

According to Chrisohoidis, around 600 buildings have sustained serious damage and need to be demolished, 1,100 have sustained serious damage, while 1,400 have minor damages. Finally, many public infrastructures have taken damage and are in need of repair.
