The Greek flag at the seat of the Democratic Union of the Greek Ethnic Minority (OMONIA) in Saranda, has been engulfed by flames.

As you can see on the photo that IBNA brings you, the flag was in between the Albanian and EU flag.

During the night, unidentified people have set this flag on fire.

Head of OMONIA, Leonidha Papa, says that this is an outrageous act which aims at damaging relations between Albania and Greece.

“We don’t know we perpetrated this act. These are outrageous acts which aim at damaging the relations between the two countries”.

The head of PBDNJ, Vangjel Dule met today with the Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri to express his concern about the fact that the Greek national flag was burned.

Such acts of hate, Dule said, do not represent the feelings of friendship and respect of the Albanian people toward the ethnic Greek minority and the Greek people.

Dule said that it’s necessary to bring the responsible people before justice and take preventing measures in order for such acts not to be repeated again.

Mr. Dule also said he’s sorry that this outrageous act has not been condemned by any political forces or civil society. /ibna/
