Two Greek expatriates included in the list with the world’s leading scientists

The list of the top scientists in the world also has a Greek color. In it are two expatriates from Melbourne, thanks to their research work.

Specifically, Thomson Reuters has prepared a list of 3,200 names of scientists from around the world with the most influence on the planet.

Among them is Professor of University of Melbourne, Christos Pantelis, noted for his research in the psychiatric field and Professor of the University Monash, Arthur (Athanasios) Christopoulos for his research in pharmacy.

Recently, Arthur Christopoulos (photo) made ​​a new discovery that is designed to eliminate the side effects caused by drugs in the body, which may drastically change the global pharmaceutical map and save lives.

He is considered one of the world’s top scientists in the field and has to his credit two very important awards, the John J. Abel Award in Pharmacology and the Michael Rand Medal.

Christos Pantelis from the University of Melbourne, is leading a department with 80 researchers involved in all areas of psychiatric research. He has written three books and has published more than 380 scientific articles on schizophrenia, depression, autism and other related topics.

Last year he was awarded the top prize «Robert Sommer» from the German Justus Liebig University «for his outstanding achievements in the field of psychiatric research”.
