Greek Energy Minister Panos Skourletis stated (during an interview to greek newspaper “Epochi” ) that next year will be important for the economical relations of Greece and Russia on the energy field. He also noted that the cost of energy in Greece is quite high and households, corporations and municipalities owe 2 billion euros to the main (and state owned) electricity provider PPC
As far as it concerns the pipeline that would run from Russia and Turkey through Greece to southern Europe, he said:
“Though the tense relations between Russia and Turkey may thwart plans to have the pipeline pass through Turkey, I feel Russia is interested in moving ahead with the pipeline even if this meant relocating from Turkey to Bulgaria”.
