The passenger traffic at Greek airports for the first eight months of 2015 “took off”, with passengers reaching EUR 34.2 million, recording an increase of 9.7% compared to 2014.
At the same time, in August passenger traffic at Greek airports increased by 6.52% compared to the corresponding month last year.
In particular, according to the statistics of the Civil Aviation Authority, in August, the Greek airports handled 7.68 million passengers (domestic and international).
The largest passenger traffic was recorded in the airports of Athens, Heraklion, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Corfu.
Indicative, from Athens’ airport passed 2.15 million passengers, 1.26 million passengers from Heraklion, from Rhodes 965 000 million, from Thessaloniki 690,000 passengers and from Corfu 560,000 passengers.
The figures of CAA on the traffic of airports in the first eight months of 2015 reveals the following:
The total number of flights at Greek airports reached 302,907 (of which 124,906 domestic and 178 001 abroad) an increase of 4.8% (8.2% on domestic flights, 2.5% on international flights) compared to the same period in 2014 which had 289,138 recorded flights.
The total number of passengers in the first eight months of 2015 reached 34.2 million, an increase of 9.7% compared to the same period in 2014, with 31.2 million recorded passengers.
It should be noted that the CAA statistics for passenger traffic in August and the eight months of 2015 have been calculated without taking into account the passenger traffic from the airports of Skyros, Mykonos, Zakynthos and Mylos, which according to estimates of the CCA it would have increased the above numbers even further.
