In the weekend of September 13-14 will be decided UEFA’s new president and it will be in Greek territory. The Executive Committee of the European Football Federation, confirmed that the elections for the successor of Michel Platini will be held in Athens.
The 55 members of UEFA will elect the new president, who will be at its helm until March 2019, while he will also be the vice president of FIFA.
So far, the ones who have expressed public interest to participate in the elections are the UEFA vice presidents, Ángel María Villar (Spain) and Michael van Praag (Netherlands), as well as the president of the Football Federation of Slovenia, Aleksander Čeferin.
The deadline for nominations is July 20, while Theodore Theodoridis is also very likely to be among the candidates, serving at this time as General Secretary of UEFA. Indeed, many believe that he has good chances to be elected, if he decides to claim the presidency.
