Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a telephone conversation with Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, a few hours after his return from Jerusalem, where he paid a two-day official visit and held meetings with the state and political leadership of Israel.
During their conversation, the long-standing ties of friendship between the Greek and Palestinian peoples were confirmed and the prospects for strengthening bilateral relations were discussed. The Prime Minister especially praised the positive contribution to the Greek society of the Palestinian community, which has been living and working in our country for decades.
They also discussed developments in the wider region, with an emphasis on the Eastern Mediterranean and the escalation of the Turkish illegal activity, as well as the next steps in the resolution of conflicts in the Middle East. In this context, the Prime Minister reiterated Greece’s firm positions, which also reflect the EU’s positions, in favor of a two-state solution, which will coexist peacefully, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Security Council Decisions.
The Prime Minister also called on Dr. Shtayyeh to visit Greece, when the conditions of the pandemic allow it. /ibna
