Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a phone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Wednesday afternoon.
The two prime ministers discussed the progression of the pandemic, with Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressing his satisfaction with the fact that in Italy the spread of the virus was on a downward tendency.
Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Conte expressed their hopes that the Greek-Italian ties would be promptly restored, always taking into account the epidemiological facts. They also agreed that the Merkel-Macron proposal for the Recovery Fund was part of the initiative they themselves had undertaken by co-signing the text in search of a common European solution, and it constitutes an important step for the EU. They underlined that this initiative should operate as a starting point for the proposal to be submitted by the European Commission. /ibna
