Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias received the Turkish Ambassador to Athens Burak Özügergin on Wednesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting took place in preparation for Dendias’s visit to Turkey on April 14th, at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
Nikos Dendias posted on Twitter that “during the discussion, bilateral relations and regional developments were examined in view of my prospective visit to Turkey on 14/4, if conditions allow.”

According to diplomatic sources by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting Nikos Dendias reiterated the need to refrain from provocative actions. In this context, he pointed out that the announcements made during yesterday’s meeting of the Turkish Security Council do not contribute to consolidating a constructive atmosphere between the two countries.
According to IBNA’s exclusive report, during the meeting ways to maintain the current precarious, peaceful and tranquil atmosphere were discussed.
According to Turkish diplomatic sources, both sides highlighted the importance of rendering recent contacts possible and continuous, and in this context the Turkish Ambassador stated that Turkey is ready to everything in its powers to ensure Nikos Dendias’s visit will be successful and effective.
Commenting on the leak from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Turkish sources noted it was a very pleasant meeting and they should not deny it. /ibna
