Greece acknowledges Guaido as Venezuela’s Transitional President

The Greek Government, according to the Foreign Ministry’s statement, has decided to acknowledge President Juan Guaido as Venezuela’s Transitional President in order for him to call for free, fair and democratic presidential elections in Venezuela.

On 31 January 2019, New Democracy’s MEPs at the European Parliament’s plenary supported the political groups’ (EPP, S&D, ECR, ALDE) joint motion, thus recognizing Juan Guaido, President of the democratically elected National Assembly, as Venezuela’s legitimate Transitional Leader, and calling for direct, free, credible and transparent elections to be held in the country.
