Albanian Ministry of Agriculture and European Delegation in Tirana are looking into the possibility of increasing the presence of European commercial food networks in Albania.
Minister Edmond Panariti and EU ambassador in Albania, Romana Vlahutin have discussed on this issue. Mr. Panariti says that the growth of EU’s commercial networks in Albania would increase competition and offer stability for agricultural and farm products.
The Albanian side has proposed the creation of integrated platforms for wholesale prices of agricultural products, based on the mechanisms of the auction according to European experiences.
Mr. Panariti has demanded from the EU support in the programs for the prevention of transmittable diseases from animals to man, in order to make sure that they are eradicated in Albania.
Ambassador Vlahutin promises support in this aspect through TAIEX program.
A meeting between EU diplomatic centers in Albania under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and European Delegation is expected to discuss ways of increasing the presence of European commercial networks of food in Albania. /ibna/
