NATO Assistant Secretary-General for Public Diplomacy, Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, did not rule out the possibility of returning to croatian politics, after much speculation in the recent months regarding her candidateship in the coming presidential elections with the opposition party Democratic Union (HDZ).
Grabar Kitarovic, who addressed Croatia’s diplomatic corps on Saturday said that “I don’t know when it will happen, I cannot say when, but I will surely be back, if not in the state administration, maybe in the business sector”.
According to Grabar Kitarovic, the state administration and bureaucracy are Croatia’s main problems, calling for deregulation. She went on to say that the economic development should be encouraged by improving the economic climate, while the state administration should be turned into a citizen’s service.
She also commented on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina stating that politicians must understand that they have a responsibility towards citizens, “that they work for them and answer to them, and the recent protests were partly due to that and not just to dissatisfaction with the economic situation”.
