The government is expected to formally establish on Thursday an office for migrants and integration, an institution set up in accordance with the recently amended aliens act.
The new office will take over the management of asylum centres from the Interior Ministry. It will also oversee integration activities, according to government documents.
Its establishment has been motivated by the desire to centralise migrations-related activities in a bid to protect law and order.
Interior Minister Vesna Györkös Žnidar recently told the STA that active participation from all ministries was necessary when it came to migrations, something the new office is expected to achieve./IBNA
