The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko delivered a lecture at the University of Oxford on the role of the central bank in preserving stability of prices and the financial stability of the country.
While making a summary of the macro-economic developments in the country, where he stopped on the recent developments in the Eurozone and the region, he also analyzed the impact that they had on the Albanian economy.
In this aspect, the Governor presented a summary of the challenges that the main two policies of central banks, monetary and macro-prudential policy, face in such situations.
Governor Sejko continued his lecture by stressing that in spite of these developments, the Bank of Albania has been ready to offer the necessary contribution for a sustainable economic growth.
Sejko also said that in an unfavorable international situation, the Bank of Albania has followed a facilitating monetary policy and has paid lots of attention to the reform in the financial sector and banking oversight.
The Governor also stressed that the policies that have been followed by central banks require maximum coordination, internal and external one to achieve optimal effects. /balkaneu.com/
