After the fire, which broke out early this morning in the Cantonal Hospital “Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić” in Bihac and caused enormous material damage, all the patients and the staff members were evacuated.
All this has affected the regular work of the hospital, which led to the temporary relocation of all departments and agencies of the building, which were damaged by fire.
The fire that happened last night around 2 am at the hospital damaged almost the entire complex, all roofs and upper floors of the hospital.
The cause of the fire was most likely the old electrical installations and therefore it came to an explosion of gas cylinders. It is a huge material damage.
The fire brigades from Bihać, Cazin and Bosanska Krupa, members of the Police and Armed Forces BiH with their extreme efforts managed to get the situation at the Hospital of Bihać under the control.
There is a huge material damage, but fortunately no any patient or hospital staff is hurt.
Catastrophic fire at the Cantonal Hospital “Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić “was the reason for the calling of an extraordinary session of the Government of Una-Sana Canton (USK), which was preceded even by an emergency session of the Cantonal Civil Protection.
Specifically, after the session during which the Cantonal Civil Protection proposed the measurements for the declaration of the state of natural disasters for the entire Cantonal area and the government has unanimously supported the decision to declare the state of natural and other disasters.
Unanimous support was confirmed by the determination of the Government to enter into a procurement procedure of a multifunctional helicopter for medical care, transport, and fire extinguishers.
By the decision of the Government of Una Sana Canton, the amount of 300.000 KM will be available to the Cantonal Hospital from the funds that are planned under the grants. By the decision of the Prime Minister Hamdija Lipovača and the Government of Una Sana Canton,to the hospital will be placed funds in the amount of 85.000 KM from the current reserves of the prime minister, to help the member staff of the hospital.
On the occasion of this disastrous fire, the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Niksić issued an order to all the institutions of the Federation of BiH, that within their jurisdiction to immediately engage in assisting the Cantonal Hospital, the Authorities Una-Sana Canton and the Municipality of Bihać.
The Council of Ministers of BiH approved the decision on the allocation of 100.000 KM from the current budgetary reserves to help Cantonal Hospital “Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić” for restoration from fire and care for vulnerable patients and the hospital staff.
