Government in FYR Macedonia has paid the debts of around 9 thousand poor households living on social allowances. The government approved this decision last year and the measure consists of the payment of utility bills, state taxes and bank loans for poor categories of people.
In a public appearance, the head of the government, Nikola Gruevski, said that it will continue to pay these debts and the number of people who are expected to benefit from this decision amounts to 412 thousand.
“In the spirit of our commitment based on the principles of humanism, social justice and solidarity, last year, we decided to pay debts that the citizens had. This was our electoral promise and its scope was to help the most affected citizens”, declared Gruevski.
He said that his government is the first one in the region to apply such measure, which was then applied in other countries too. /ibna/
