The government of Kosovo expresses its concern for the arrest of the head of Protocol at the Ministry of the Security Force of Kosovo, Gafurr Dugolli by authorities in FYROM, demanding his immediate release.
Dugolli’s arrest was carried out in the border crossing point between the two countries, based on an arrest warrant issued by Serb authorities, which Pristina considers as illegal.
In today’s meeting of the government of Kosovo, minister of the Security Force, Haki Demolli briefed the cabinet about the arrest of the Kosovo citizen. He demanded for these arrests to be put to an end.
“Dugolli has been arrested in the border between Kosovo and Macedonia, based on an international arrest warrant issued by the Republic of Serbia, allegedly for ‘war crimes’.
The government must take diplomatic and legal steps to free Gafurr Dugolli as soon as possible, but also to make sure that such arrests for former members of KLA not to be repeated in the future”, said minister Demolli.
PM Isa Mustafa said that the government has reacted in relation to this event and that this is now an issue which must be resolved.
Referring to the fact that Kosovo is not yet a member of Interpol, the Prime Minister said that this causes difficulties in accessing preliminary information in relation to the list of names that enter the system.
This is the second time in a few months that former members of KLA are being arrested,
Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri has contacted with Brussels. She said that the EU is working for this issue not to be handled the way it is being presented by the Serb side. /ibna/
