Government in FYROM starts the implementation of its social package

The government plan for the payment of the debts of people in need has started today in FYR Macedonia.

This measure was a promise made by the largest party, VMRO-DPMNE of prime minister Nikola Gruevski in the latest elections.

Based on the plan, all people who are on social benefits must be subsidized for their utility bills, loan debts, etc. This plan applies to debts accumulated until December 31, 2013.

The government’s spokesman, Aleksandar Georgiev declared that as of today, people can address to social institutions and submit their personal documents in order to start the procedure for the payment of their debts. According to him, this plan will benefit 50 thousand to 100 thousand citizens. The government has signed contracts with large utility companies, banks and other institutions.

Meanwhile, the government is obliged to lift taxes and subsidize companies which have signed contracts for the payment of the debts of citizens. The entire plan is expected to have a 4 million Euro cost. /ibna/
