Alexis Tsipras was briefed on Wednesday afternoon by finance minister Euclid Tsakalotos at the Maximos Mansion on the open issues of the ongoing negotiations with the troika, which according to government sources “run smoothly”.
After the meeting with the prime minister, Tsakalotos went to the Economic Policy Council meeting, held under the leadership of Yannis Dragasakis, with the participation of the economy minister and the secretary general of the government Spyros Sayas.
Government Council for Economic Policy worked on the recapitalisation of banks.
According to government sources, discussions with technical echelons continued Wednesday without problems. At the heart of the discussions were energy, the licensing framework, budget and tax issues.
The same sources said that all discussions were held in a very good atmosphere and fully followed the flow of the program, while the institutions visited again by the General Accounting Office.
On Thursday, is expected to arrive in Athens the representative of the IMF, Delia Velculescu.
Andreeva: Course of negotiations is positive
The satisfaction of the European Commission on the progress of negotiations expressed the deputy spokesperson of the Commission, Mina Andreeva.
As she stated during the established press briefing in Brussels, the course of the discussions are “positive” and “constructive” and can allow their completion “as soon as possible”, which “satisfies” the Commission.
She also reiterated that the head of the European Commission mission in Athens, is already on the spot and leads the “intensive negotiations” with the Greek authorities.
Finally, she said that the last two votes in the Greek parliament and the reforms adopted in these demonstrate that the commitments of the Greek government are being followed, just as agreed.
