While small parties announced today an agreement which sends Hashim Thaci to opposition, his press office promoted a few moments ago a telephone conversation of the acting prime minister with Brussels.
“Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci received today a telephone call by the High Representative for Foreign Policies and Security of the European union, Baroness Catherine Ashton. The main topic of this conversation was the election process”, declared the government’s press office.
“Prime minister Thaci pledged that in the quality of the next prime minister, he will make sure that there’s a multi-ethnic government which will continue to follow the path of regional and European integration”, is quoted Mr. Thaci in this statement which comes a few hours after small parties announced the agreement that overthrows the current prime minister and moves power to the former prime minister Ramush Haradinaj. The latter won 9.61% of the votes in the polls.
Thaci’s PDK came out first with 30.71% of the votes, followed by LDK with 25.75%.
Baroness Ashton has congratulated prime minister Thaci for the democratic elections, considering it as an important step taken by Kosovo in its EU perspective.
Mr. Ashton said that she’s expecting from the new government which will be formed to remain committed in its work to strengthen rule of law, continuation of talks with Serbia and European perspective. /ibna/
