Some 64% of people in Croatia aged 15 and over use the internet, according to a study conducted by the GfK. The internet penetration rate is similar to neighboring countries Bosnia and Herzegovina (63%), Serbia (65%) and FYROM (67%).
However, the rates are higher in Slovenia (80%), Slovakia (70%) and Hungary (74%). Croatian people only shop online a few times a year, and when they do, they usually buy clothes, shoes and accessories, and electronic products.
At the end of 2010, only 6% the Croatian public shopped over the internet, while that figure has now risen to 23%.
