The mechanism for the identification of the most serious cases has been launched in the past few days by the state prosecution.
This mechanism aims at identifying 50 of the most serious criminal offenses in the Kosovar justice system. Part of these investigations will also be political figures and large companies.
The General Attorney, Syle Hoxha says that the mechanism is based on the strategic plan for cross institutional cooperation in the fight against organized crime and corruption.
“The scope of this mechanism is to identify 50 of the most serious offenses in the justice system in Kosovo, which will be urgently addressed by all law enforcement agencies”, declared Hoxhaj.
According to Hoxhaj, the objective of this mechanism is to prevent, discover and investigate all serious offenses through a harmonized coordination of the activities of competent authorities, in line with international standards and EU guidelines for the liberalization of visas. This mechanism will be in place for the period from 2014 until 2018.
Meanwhile, national coordinator for the fight against financial crime, Shqipdon Fazliu, said that the mechanism in question has been established based on a case concerning “Hib Petrol” company, but which according to him, it will not prejudge the final outcomes of the investigation.
“Everyone will be treated equally in front of the law and state prosecutor, in spite of the political power or the company being investigated. I would like to stress that this will not prejudge anything, because the outcome of the investigations on the company in question is not known”, said Fazliu. /ibna/
