The government of FYROM is confident that the constitutional amendments concerning the name change will be passed in parliament. PM Zoran Zaev has declared that he hopes that the eight MPs who voted in favour of these amendments will continue to offer their support, even after the arrests of the former senior officials of VMRO-DPMNE.
“I see this process as a process of political dialogue through which we can expand our majority. I truly hope that VMRO-DPMNE MPs will continue to offer their support”, Zaev said.
Meanwhile, Macedonian opposition MPs who voted in favour of the amendments, said that the arrests damage the process of reconciliation which has already started, adding that for the moment no decision has been made yet as to the course of action that will be followed.
The first parliamentary session where constitutional amendments will be voted will take place on 1 December 2018 and the full finalization of constitutional amendments is expected to take place by the end of January. /ibna/
