The head of the parliamentary committee on European affairs and MP, Artan Grubi has requested direct support from the USA in finding a solution on the name contest. Grubi said this during the meetings that he’s had in the White House with Molly Montgomery, special advisor to the US vice President, Mike Pence.
“The reforms, the Ohrid Agreement and other expectations of the EU are on the right path. However, we still have the name contest with our southern neighbor to resolve. In this aspect, we’re expecting direct assistance from the United States in order to find an appropriate solution for both countries”, Grubi said.
According to Grubi, this year is decisive and historical because the sides are nearing a final solution on the name, while next year will be a problem because it will be an election year in FYROM, Greece and the European Union. /balkaneu.com/
