The two largest parties in FYROM, SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE have continued to debate on the issue of the country’s name.
VMRO-DPMNE declared that PM Zoran Zaev has not upheld the country’s national interests. “Zaev agreed to make concessions at the detriment of the Republic of Macedonia. He’s planning to ratify the agreement through a simple majority in Parliament. We do not support the agreement”, VMRO-DPMNE declared. Meanwhile, on Sunday, this party will hold a protest in Manastir.
But, the party in power, SDSM has declared that VMRO-DPMNE should no longer cause divides and offer its support for this agreement which puts an end to a 25 year old contest.
“The agreement ensures and strengthens the Macedonian identity and nobody can argue with that. This also fulfills a key requirement for NATO and EU accession”, SDSM declared.
Meanwhile, last night, a protest against the agreement was held last night in front of Parliament in Skopje. /ibna/
