FYROM celebrates Macedonian Revolutionary War Day

Today, FYR Macedonia celebrates October 23, the Macedonian Revolutionary War Day.

At noon, parliament of the country will award the “October 23” state prize for achievements in the domain of science, culture, education, protection of state interests and the promotion of state priorities, values and cultural-historical legacy of the Republic of Albania.

On the occasion of this day, high state delegations will place flower wreaths before the monument of the founders of the Macedonian Revolutionary Organization at the “Woman Fighter” park.

The central square of the capital will host a concert by the city’s string orchestra.

On October 23, 1893, in the home of Ivan Hadzi Nikolov in Thessalonica, Hristo Tatarcev, Dame Gruev, Petar Arsov, Anton Dimitrov and Hristo Batanxhiev formed the Macedonian Revolutionary Committee which later brought the formation of the International Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (VMRO), which has fought for the Slav-Macedonian cause. This day was decided to be celebrated by the party in power, VMRO-DPMNE, which has introduced it in the agenda of national celebrations. /ibna/
