FYROM: Albanian political parties in favour of the referendum

All Albanian political parties in FYROM have declared that they will back the referendum  on the name.

The largest Albanian political party, BDI (Democratic Union for Integration) declared that it will contribute in favour of a “yes” vote in the referendum, in order to give way to the country’s accession in the NATO and EU.

“The referendum is a moment that should join us all, because NATO accession interests all the citizens of this country”, said the head of this party, Ali Ahmeti.

The largest Albanian opposition party, Alliance for Albanians, decided to offer its support for the September 30th referendum concerning the deal reached with Greece regarding the issue of the name, but it has also imposed several conditions for the improvement of relations between Albanians and Macedonians.

“The government needs an agreement between the two largest communities in Macedonia, Albanians and Macedonians”, said the head of this party, Ziadin Sela.

Other Albanian political parties have declared that they will call on their voters to vote in favour of the country’s name change in the referendum. /ibna/
