According to the “Journalists without Borders” index, which published the 2014 freedom of speech list for 180 countries, FYR Macedonia saw a drop of seven places, being positioned on the 123rd position.
This is the lowest position since the independence of the country.
“Macedonia has made efforts to become an EU member since 2005, but 10 years later, the talks have not yet been launched. Macedonia conducts reforms for its European integration, but in the recent years, these reforms have not been sufficient to prevent the violations taking place in free information”, reads the report.
This fall of 7 places is also explained with the imprisonment of journalists Tomislav Kezharovski and Zoran Bozhinovski. /ibna/
