The US based Freedom House Organization says in its report published on Tuesday, that democratic principles such as the integrity of the elections and the freedom of the media have weakened for the 12th year in a row.
Based on this report, Kosovo has been given a 3 and 4, making the country partially free. According to Freedom House, scores from 1 to 2.5 apply for countries which are free, scores from 3 to 5 apply for countries partially free, while scores from 5.5 to 7 apply for countries which are not free.
According to Freedom House, a free country is the one where there is open political competition, where civil rights are respected and where the media is independent.
A partially free country is the one where there are restrictions of political and civil liberties, a country which constantly lives in a corrupt environment, poor rule of law, religious and ethnic conflicts and in a political environment dominated by one party.
