In Albania, the government took a very important decision relating to the health service, offering free health checks for Albanian nationals from 40 to 65 years of age.
Minister of Health, Ilir Beqja (photo) says that this is the first concrete step to pass into a totally free health system in the country.
As of today, free health check will be benefited from all those people of this age group, regardless of being insured or not.
The free health check will be annual and will be offered in all state owned health centers of the Republic of Albania.
Minister Beqaj says that in order to make sure that these health checks are made, these citizens will be notified by their GP.
The package of the health check includes the evaluation, consultation, treatment and a follow up of the life style factors.
“The basic medical check is a national program that aims to protect the population from the risk factors and prevalent illnesses in order to offer health care, prevent illnesses and complications, early identification of disorders, treatment in early phases and the improvement of health culture”, says minister Beqaj. /ibna/
