French President Francois Hollande will be in Greece on October 22-23 on an official visit.
According to the newspaper “To Vima”, the French President visits Greece having on the agenda Paris’ interest in participating in the privatisation of Greek assets, with an emphasisis on ITSO and TRAINOSE.
Sources familiar with the issue argue that the defeat in the battle for the control of the 14 regional greek airports has not sit well with the French side, which passed to the German Fraport.
In this context, the interest of the French EDF for ITSO and of Alstom for TRAINOSE will be intense and the Greek government will have to take important decisions and to respect sensitive balances.
According to “To Vima” howver, Hollande’s visit also has a political agenda as the French President reported to be working behind the scenes for an approach to Tsipras with European Socialists.
Moreover, as informed sources explain, the recent contacts of the GReek prime minister both in Brussels with the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz and the leader of the Group of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, the Italian Gianni Pittella, are moves in this direction.
