Former Italian PM, D’Alema is awarded “Mother Teresa” medal by the Albanian President

In a special ceremony held today, the President of Albania, Ilir Meta has awarded the former Prime Minister of Italy, Massimo D’Alema awarded the “Mother Teresa” medal. Mr. Meta expressed his recognition for Mr. D’Alema’s constant and extraordinary support in Albania’s process of Euro-Atlantic and European integration.

“Every Albanian remembers Massimo D’Alema. He is one of the most prominent figures of Italian politics and he was given the name “Leader Maximo” for his vision, courage and tireless efforts to reform the left and Italian politics in general”, President Meta said.

The President of the Republic also praised the historic support that the government chaired by Mr. D’Alema gave in order to stop genocide and ethnic cleansing in Kosovo and the extraordinary humanitarian aid in support of one million people who were displaced by the war. /ibna/
