Representatives of the Azerbaijani government and of the Shah Deniz II consortium have officially announced TAP as the pipeline which will enable gas to be transported from the Caspian Sea to Europe. They had a meeting today with the Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aldo Bumci.
Minister Bumci considered the selection of TAP not only as highly strategic for Albania, as with the construction of this pipeline, Albania resolves the issue of energy, but this project will also push forward cooperation in the region, with the European Union and other friendly countries.
Representatives of the government of Azerbaijan and of Shah Denize 2 praised the role and contribution of Albania in this process and stressed that this project will have an extraordinary importance not only for the countries that it will go through, but also for energy security in Europe. They stressed that the selection of TAP project was made as it was the most economic and effective project which insures the transport of gas with favorable prices for consumers. /ibna/
