Foreign investors are seeing Kosovo as a country with great potential in the agricultural sector, although  the biggest challenges in this domain relate to the lack of the irrigation system and high interest rates for agricultural loans.

This was said in the international conference dubbed “Possibilities of investments in the Kosovo agribusiness” organized by USAID.

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Memli Krasniqi said that the government is committed to further develop and support the agricultural sector, given that according to him, there’s great potential to create new jobs through this sector.

Meanwhile, USAID director in Kosovo, James Hope said that USAID will continue to support agriculture in Kosovo and called on investors and local agribusinesses to exploit the possibilities that the conference offers to establish long term business relations.

According to him, Kosovo is a very good country to invest in agriculture.

The chief of USAID said that with the constant investments in agriculture and through a strategic vision of the government, the economy of Kosovo will continue to grow.

The two day conference is being attended by more than 200 national and international participants with the aim of linking together agribusinesses and international and national investors.  /ibna/
