Football Association in FYR Macedonia (FSM) says that its idea for the creation of a regional league in Southeast Europe is being supported by other federations. This proposal suggests a league between the countries of this region. Ilco Gorgioski, president of FSM said that this topic has also been discussed in the meeting with the president of the Croatian Football Association, Davo Suker, who has visited Skopje. Suker is also a member candidate for the UEFA Executive Committee.
“We’re in a joint mission with UEFA and we’re talking about proposals, activities and ideas which can contribute for the development of football. Cooperation between the two associations is at the highest level and we try to strengthen this cooperation and use the experience with other associations in improving the quality of young football players. To us, it’s very important that the Croatian Football Association have supported our proposal for a regional league for clubs because all countries in the region face the same problems, such as the drop in the number of fans in the stadium, inadequate interest for domestic championships and the small number of international matches”, Gorgioski declared.
Suker said that he’s hoping to have the support of FSM for his election in the UEFA Executive Committee and that altogether, they can fulfill all common projects and ideas. /ibna/
