Flooded areas in Croatia getting ready for new floods

Review Hari Stefanatos

Meteorologists predict increased rainfall for Monday, which when combined with Sunday’s ones, can cause the increase of the levels of water in rivers and streams causing them to flood. The areas most vulnerable, according to the National Protection and Rescue Directorate (DUZS) and local authorities, are the ones southeast of Zagreb, more specifically, the basin of the Sava river.

These news comes after the dire situation in  Sisak-Moslavina county, where the river Sava and minor streams having flooded dozens of settlements and villages only last week. Anymore floods in this area will be impossible to fend off against.

The army and the local authorities are on a high state of alert and are preparing for the occasion where the evacuation of residences be deemed necessary.
